For the past 5 years TU Delft Learning for Life (previously known as Extension School) has been championing generosity through We Like Sharing, a bank of images created by staff, students and alumni, family and friends of the university. The photos are visible to everyone and publicly searchable.
It’s simple. Share a photo, choose the permissions you give others to reuse it, and watch what happens: a passionate kiss in New York travels to a book on visual rhetorics in Minnesota; the most loving wall in Spain transforms itself into a guide for PhD candidates in Leeds; a photo of your hometown ends up illustrating an article on the lack of access to electricity; your holiday shot of Lake Bled now sits immensely in Wikimedia Commons. All these (and more) are examples of the new lives you can give your photos when you share them. Would you like to see for yourself?
To celebrate We Like Sharing’s fifth birthday and Open Education Week 2026, you are invited to participate in Open Photo Competition 2026! For the chance of winning one of four €25 vouchers, send a photo (or more) in one of these two categories:
#OPEN: What does open mean to you? One word, your interpretation!
#IMPACT: How are you changing the world? How is what you do shaping a better future? Show us!
A few points to note:
- The competition is open to all TU Delft employees, students and alumni, their friends and families, that’s pretty much everyone!
- You can submit as many photographs as you like*.
- Photos of children or easily recognized individuals (i.e. full face) will not be accepted.
- No AI-generated images either, please!
- All submissions will be uploaded to We Like Sharing under a Creative Commons license of your choice.
- The creator of the photograph will be credited as copyright owner.
- Winners will be notified w/c 16 March.
- Winners will have the choice of redeeming their €25 voucher at one of the following: Paagman Books, De Nationale Bioscoopbon, Praxis, HANNO Groots Café or Tuincentrum GroenRijk ‘t Haantje Rijswijk. (Or an equivalent if you are a winner but not resident in The Netherlands).
The People’s Choice
Three of the four winners will be selected by an international jury. The fourth will be chosen by you, the people! Voting will open on March 11th. Find out more in the description text of each entry in We Like Sharing and keep an eye on the photos as they come in: Open Education Week 2026 album.
